Welcome to Queer Osteo

osteopathic care that centres the needs of the LGBTQ+ community

Meet Louisa Henson (She/Her)

Hello! I'm Louisa, a dedicated and compassionate osteopath focused on providing care for the LGBTQ+ community. As a queer person, I am passionate about creating a safe space where everyone can receive personalised and expert treatment. My approach is rooted in empathy and a genuine desire to improve the well-being of my clients. Completing my Masters in Osteopathy with Distinction, I went on to be awarded the Institute of Osteopathy's 'Rising Star' award in 2023. My mission with Queer Osteo is to offer inclusive, holistic care that respects and celebrates the diversity of each individual. I'm committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those I serve, one healing touch at a time.

In addition to osteopathy, I offer Sports Massage and Manual Lymphatic Drainage in London Bridge, providing a comprehensive approach to healthcare. I'm also a teaching assistant at the London School of Osteopathy, where I share my expertise and passion with the next generation of osteopaths.

When I'm not working, you'll find me walking in SE London parks with my partner Ash (She/They) and our mini dachshund Lavender, swimming in whatever body of water I can get into, pulling tarot with a glass of Rose or scream-shouting at my fave queer gigs!

What is osteopathy?

What is
Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a holistic healthcare approach that focuses on the body's musculoskeletal system, including bones, muscles, ligaments and fascia. It emphasises the interconnectedness of the body's structure and function, promoting overall well-being.

Osteopaths are trained to assess, diagnose and treat numerous health issues using hands-on techniques like stretching, articulation and manipulation. This approach helps improve movement, relieve pain and support the body's natural healing processes.

What sets osteopathy apart is its focus on treating the whole person, not just the symptoms. By addressing the root cause of problems, osteopathy offers personalised care tailored to each individual's unique needs. It's a gentle, non-invasive therapy suitable for people of all ages, providing a compassionate path to better health.

Osteopathy, an NHS-recognised Allied Health Profession, is regulated by the General Osteopathic Council

LGBTQ+ centred osteopathy

LGBTQ+ centred care

LGBTQ+ centred care in osteopathy is designed to address the unique health needs and concerns of the LGBTQ+ community. Recognising that LGBTQ+ individuals often face distinct challenges in healthcare, this approach emphasises creating a safe, inclusive and affirming environment for all clients.

I am trained in LGBTQ+ inclusive healthcare, ensuring that i'm knowledgeable about the specific needs of the community. This includes understanding the physical and emotional impacts of discrimination, the nuances of gender identity and expression and the health needs related to hormone therapy and gender-affirming surgeries.

The goal of LGBTQ+ centred osteopathy is to provide holistic care that respects and celebrates diversity. Queer Osteo aims to build trust and foster a positive healthcare experience for every client. It is a commitment to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can access high-quality osteopathic care that supports their journey to finding comfort and ease in their body.
